A guide to anoprinted aluminium signs
Choosing a metal sign involves more than its appearance on the first day. Think about who will read it, how close they will be and what the sign will encounter once installed. Anoprinting is an option when clear information and a durable metal finish both matter.
What is anoprinting?
Anoprinting introduces dyes into the porous anodised layer of aluminium before that layer is sealed. The lettering and images sit within the finish, leaving a smooth face rather than a raised print. It offers a way to combine detailed graphics with the character of metal.
Colour and the metal finish
Full-colour designs can include logos, illustrations and colour-coded areas. The aluminium influences their appearance: this process uses CMYK dyes without white ink, so unprinted areas reveal the metal. A colour that looks right on white paper may look different on aluminium. Discuss any important colour matches with us at the quotation stage.
Planning a clear layout
Keep directional messages short and make room names or numbers easy to find. For a series of signs, consistent type sizes, arrows and spacing help the whole scheme feel connected. We can discuss a layout based on your wording, logo and the information people need at each location.
Everyday use and cleaning
The sealed anodised layer protects the graphics against everyday wear. This makes the process worth considering for busy shared spaces, frequently handled panels and identification signage. Where cleaning chemicals, humidity or industrial exposure are involved, tell us the conditions so suitability can be checked for your project.
Specifying signs for outdoors
Outdoor signs need to be considered separately from interior signs. Daylight can affect coloured graphics, and additional protection may be required. Tell us the installation position, sun exposure and preferred colours before ordering; we’ll confirm the appropriate specification rather than treating every finish as suitable for every location.
What to send for a quote
Include the quantity, overall size, wording and any logo or artwork. A photo of the installation area is useful, along with details of the mounting surface and fixing holes. For several different signs, a simple schedule helps us price the complete set. Please also include your delivery postcode and any required date.
Request a quote
Tell us the sizes, quantities, wording or artwork, where the signs will be used and your delivery postcode. We’ll get back to you with pricing.
Thank you for your enquiry. We’ll be in touch as soon as possible.
